I'm sure we have all seen at least one photo of this car.
The crazy car I'm talking about is a 4th generation Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme on (what looks to be) !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
It barely has tires on it, doesn't have a drive shaft, and is covered with information about the store it sits in front of: Mease's Custom Car Accessories in Warren, OH.
The attention-getting static placement of this vehicle seems to be working. How? Even though I never go looking for photos of Cutlasses, Ohio, or high-risers, I have seen this vehicle several times on assorted message boards and forums. It definitely gets attention.
Recently, a new challenger appeared on in the internet of a similar car that looked like it was in the need of roadside assistance. And a hi-lift jack. Or a fork lift. (photo below)
I know what you're thinking, How many Cutlass Supremes could there be with 50" wire wheels?
Once I learned that there isn't a "5th Street" in downtown Warren, I had my hopes up that there was more than one outrageous Cutlass.
The search began.
What did I find? I came across another image of a Cutlass at the same intersection that hints that the red Cutlass above might also be a static advertisement.
But wait.....it's wearing the (albeit with new decals) Ohio Cutlass yellow/burgundy livery. It was also at this point, that I found a street address for this intersection.
The address? Huntington, WV. 275 Miles from it's last known location.
Based on the evidence provided by Google Streetview of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I have come to the conclusion that this is the same vehicle, and there is still only one 4th gen Cutlass Supreme 50" champion.
Still unknown:
How did it get there?
Why did it end up in WV?
How did it lose it's front wheels?
How does Warren, OH feel about losing their city's landmark?

I saw a donked Cutlass about a month ago in SC, but it was on only 30-ish inch wheels. It was not the champion.

I was getting ready to call the pawn shop and ask where they got it.
Then call the auto parts store and ask the same.
Then I realized that I didn't care enough about it.

I came across this fine Greensboro, NC example during my investigation.

I wonder if it could still drive if they wanted it to. Obviously it would be too top-heavy for actual traffic use, but it would still be cool to see it parading around the parking lot.

The one I saw had opted for not quite so much lift, was that more purpley color, and still had its grill, but was otherwise somewhat ratty like that.

And trust me you dont want to got to Huntington WV unless you are just passing through, hopefully somewhere else than WV. Lived there for 9 months, there is a reason it is the fattest city in the US.

Poor Cutlass. At least I'm saving one.

I doubt it still drives. or steers. or stops. It was probably towed the 275 miles to the new location.

That's some on fine investigative journalism. I hope you'll keep us appraised of any new developments in the story.

I prefer the term "investigative googleism", since that's the only source. :)
Now, if I could just find out if anyone actually sells those wheels.

and all you have to do is park next to one of these all the time

It would need a very creative driveshaft and some better support for the rearend if they actually wanted to drive it.
